Hiziki is a black sea vegetable also known as 'Hijiki'.
It has a stronger taste than arame and once cooked it will swell to 5-6 times its dried size.
Hiziki is a mineral rich seaweed found along the coasts of Japan, China and Hong Kong. A portion of hiziki contains 10 times more calcium than a comparable amount of cow’s milk, cheese or other dairy food. It is an excellent source of iron, protein, vitamins A, B1 and B12.
